Danielle Waldron is a junior at Manhattanville majoring in Management with a double minor in Music and Communications. After graduating from high school in Portland, Maine, Danielle decided to apply to Manhattanville after receiving a college brochure in the mail. “The smaller size of the school appealed to me as well as the good student/teacher ratio,” she said. “I liked that I would be known by name, and not be lost in the crowd. After visiting the campus I knew that I wanted to go to school here.”
Danielle started classes at Manhattanville as a Music Management major, but then decided to switch her major to Management, as that better coincided with her interests. She then added Communications and Music as a double minor. “I wanted to broaden my range of abilities, she said. “By adding these minors, I am able to experience more diverse classes than if I had kept just the Management title. I would advise freshmen considering Management as a major to think about adding at least one minor as I did, because I'm learning more about my field this way. It opens up a few more windows of opportunity, and I now can expand into different parts of the management field if I ever want to.”
In addition to her studies, Danielle stays active by participating in extracurricular activities. She is co-captain of the Manhattanville Women's Tennis Team, a member of SACC, a DJ for WMVL radio, and the musical director for the Manhattanville Sound.
In January Danielle will travel to London for a study abroad program. While there, she will have the opportunity to intern at an independent music label. “The experience I will gain at this position will be important in helping me to get a job in the music industry, which is my overall goal. I want to be a tour manager, and at this internship I have the opportunity to work in that particular field,” she said. "I am glad that I am able to have this opportunity through Manhattanville."
