Tellier Discover ThumbGerard Tellier is the goal keeper and captain of the men’s soccer team.  Originally from West Warwick, Rhode Island, he first heard about Manhattanville when a recruiter for the Valiants invited him to apply. “I’ve played soccer since I was three years old,” Jerry said. “I was on the soccer team throughout high school and attended a soccer academy during the summer, so I was excited by the opportunity to continue my career by playing for Manhattanville.”  Jerry also had the distinction of being selected to attend the Olympic Development Program in his junior year of high school. It is from this program that people are selected for the opportunity of trying out for the United States Olympic team.  “Although I was not selected for further tryouts, I was able to play with some of the best soccer players in the United States which I was really honored by,” he said.  “I became a better player through that experience and it also gave me a lot more self confidence.”

Jerry is a Duchesne Scholar majoring in History, with a minor in Political Science. He is part of the History Club and was named to the Dean’s List in 2005 and 2006. He currently carries a 3.97 g.p.a. His favorite classes have been a writing seminar class and a history class called The Development of America. In addition to sports and academics, Jerry is also active in community service activities.  He has participated in various fundraisers such as a fashion show for the BSU and a walk with the rest of the soccer team on behalf of the American Cancer Society.  Jerry has also participated in the Duchesne Center’s Midnight Run program.

After graduation from Manhattanville, Jerry hopes to go on to law school and eventually work for the FBI.
