Erin Snelling is a junior at Manhattanville majoring in Psychology with a double minor in Political Science and Sociology. “In addition to having the courses I was looking for, the beautiful campus and the friendly people also made me want to go to school here,” Erin said. “When I came for my overnight I felt welcomed and at home.”
Erin is also active with the Student Government Association, working as an Orientation Advisor and as a Finance Representative with the Strategic Planning Finance Committee. “I along with my other finance board members review budgets and assist the clubs on campus in financial planning for their events. I love helping people plan their events and coming up with new activities on campus. I have met a lot of really great people working with the SGA,” she said.
After graduation Erin would like to specialize in school or health psychology. “I enjoy this major because I feel that it really allows you to make a difference and to have a career that is very personally rewarding. I like the idea of leaving work at the end of the day knowing that I have helped someone.”
When asked what advice she would give students considering her major, Erin said, “I would definitely recommend that they narrow down their area of interest to one or two subjects within the field. Decide which area of psychology interests you the most because it is easy to be caught up in all of the different subsections.
