ORIENTATION ADVISOR POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Orientation Advisors (OA’s) will play a vital role in the planning and implementation of Orientation 2008. As a member of the Orientation staff, OA’s perform many tasks associated with our two Orientation programs, such as serving as a peer advisor, leading small group meeting and handling various administrative tasks. OA’s must have good communication skills, be responsible, mature, self-initiating, flexible, friendly and hard working.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in many administrative and programming aspects of coordinating both of the 2008 Orientation programs
- Represent Manhattanville College to new students and parents
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of Student Activities and the Orientation Chairs
Necessary qualifications:
- Full-time undergraduate student who will be returning in the Fall 2008
- Minimum GPA of 2.75
- In good academic, judicial, and social standing
- Be able to work 6/17/08 – 6/23/08 and/or 8/16/08 – 8/24/08 for training and actual Orientation dates. This includes evening hours and weekends.
- Due to the time commitment, OA’s may not be summer Resident Advisors during Phase I Orientation or be enrolled in summer courses and may not be Resident Advisors for the Fall 2008 semester for Phase II Orientation.
Compensation:
- Housing is provided on campus during Phase I Orientation. If you are an OA during Phase II, you will move into your Fall 2008 housing. Commuter students are encouraged to participate in both Phases of Orientation, however housing cannot be provided during Phase II Orientation.
- Meals during all Orientation activities and events, including OA training, will be provided
Application process:
- Completed applications must be submitted by Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008
- Selected Orientation Advisors will receive an email from the Orientation staff prior to the completion of the Spring 2008 semester
