Students Selected for MasterCard International Internships
4.18.08
Manhattanville’s Center for Career Development is pleased to announce that MasterCard International has selected four sophomores from Manhattanville College for their Summer Internship program. This highly selective internship program is open to 12 students who are recruited from colleges and universities in Westchester County and the surrounding area.
Angelo Laroche, Mila Manevska, Josh Kirsch and Zunaira Hijazi (as pictured above) are looking forward to working in the corporate environment. For some it will be the first time. While the atmosphere is professional at MasterCard, each student also felt it was friendly. To kick off the program, interns will have lunch with MasterCard’s CEO.
The goal of their internship is to learn as much as possible and MasterCard will be providing ongoing training throughout the summer months. Learning will occur in formal and informal settings at the corporate headquarters and will also include activities outside of the office. In the past, interns have visited the New York Stock Exchange and attended the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
Interns will be working as part of a team and will be assigned projects based on the department they work in. At the end of the summer each intern will present their completed project to their supervisors and peers. Our students agree, the internship will be a challenge and they are ready for it!
When asked what advice they would give future interns and job seekers, Angelo, Mila, Josh and Zunaira passed along these tips:
- Prepare for your interview so you feel confident.
- Research the organization you are interviewing with and know their mission, values and current news.
- Your resume should be a true reflection of your accomplishments. Be prepared to talk about those accomplishments during your interview.
- Be professional in the way you dress, act and speak.
- When you go to the site of your interview, observe the people who work there to learn about the environment you will be working in.
- Utilize the Center for Career Development to help you with your resume, interviewing skills and job/internship search!
