Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk 2007

Over $1 Million Raised in Walkathon

man happy cancer walkApproximately 14,000 walkers flooded into Manhattanville College on Sunday, Oct.  21 for the 2007 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walkathon.

Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Making Strides is an annual nationwide fundraiser for breast cancer research.  Manhattanville hosted the Westchester chapter of the non-competitive walk.  Participants of all ages and from all walks of life signed up the morning of the 21st, bright and early at 8am, with their pledges.

The walkers raised $1,425,000, not including internet donations, which have already exceeded $700,000.

Craig Donnelly from the Duchesne Center for Religion and Social Justice at Manhattaville College organized at least 58 Duchesne scholarship student volunteers at the Manhattanville tent and even more walkers.  In addition, every athletic team participated in the walk.
