Youth Give Back Day

4.26.08

The Duchesne Center will be hosting the first Youth Give Back Day on April 26th, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Ophir Room and the French Parlor in Reid Castle.  High school students from the Coachman Family Center and the Don Bosco Center will participate in various workshops led by Manhattanville students.

The purpose of these workshops is to help the high school students become more informed about college life. Some of the workshops that will be presented include Career Planning, Study Abroad, Being Motivated, and Gay and Lesbian Life on a College Campus.  Each workshop will be interactive, and include things like power point presentations and games.  Manhattanville students interested in volunteering for this event can still sign up at the Duchesne Center.

Craig Donnelly, Community Service Coordinator for the Duchesne Center, created and organized the event.  “The main reason for holding Youth Give Back Day is to inspire these young teenagers to want to go to college,” he said.  “This can be accomplished through ensuring that they are well informed about the opportunities available to them.”  The Duchesne Center plans to make Youth Give Back Day a regular annual event.
