Volunteers Demonstrate Power of Service for Westhab

4.30.08

Westhab, Inc., Westchester County's largest non-profit provider of homeless and affordable housing, will be holding an event at Reid Castle to honor the efforts of key volunteers during National Volunteer Recognition Week.  Manhattanville's Duchesne Center is among the honorees, and will be recognized with the Points of Light Presidential Special Award.  All are invited to attend the event.

2008 National Volunteer Week (NVW) is from April 27th to May 3rd.  The week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek ways to engage in their community.  It is about showing the nation that we meet our challenges not as isolated individuals, but  as members of a true community, all working together.

2008 National Volunteer Week is sponsored by Target and is an initiative of the Points of Light & Hands On Network.  The Week was first designated as an annual observance by the Executive Order of President Richard Nixon in 1974.
