Skylark Farm is a poignant account of the Armenian genocide
04.03.2008
Antonia Arslan will discuss and read from her debut novel, Skylark Farm, on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in Reid Castle.
ABOUT SKYLARK FARM
Available now in paperback from Vintage Books, Skylark Farm tells the tragic tale of a family’s struggle for survival during the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The New York Times Book Review has said:“In Arslan’s hands, the gruesome details of this tragedy are palliated by an old-fashioned story of redemption. . . . Skylark Farm is an affecting book.”
ABOUT ANTONIA ARSLAN
Antonia Arslan has a degree in archaeology and was professor of modern and contemporary Italian literature at the University of Padua. She is the author of pioneering studies on genre and serial fiction and on the “submerged galaxy” of Italian women writers. Through the work of the great poet Daniel Varoujan—whose collections she translated—she rediscovered her deep and unspoken Armenian identity. She edited an informative booklet about the genocide (Metz Yeghern:The Armenian Genocide, by Claude Mutafian) and a collection of eyewitness accounts by survivors who took refuge in Italy (Hushčr:The Italian Voices of Armenian Survivors). Antonia lives in Padua, Italy. This is her first novel.
