Liberal Studies

Manhattanville' s Master of Arts in Liberal Studies is perfect for adult students who want to further their education in the liberal arts. The curriculum is as flexible as the schedule, allowing students to self-design an interdisciplinary program that suits their personal or professional interests. Most courses are courses offered in the evenings. Classes are small, and an academic advisor will assist each student plan a program that is dynamic and meaningful.

The 30-credit program consists of nine courses and a final master' s essay. The curriculum begins with a core seminar in the humanities, followed by eight electives, which may include an independent study and, when appropriate, an internship. A thesis or final project completes the program. Most students complete the program in approximately two years,

Manhattanville' s long tradition of excellence in the liberal arts assures high quality and variety of liberal arts courses, many of which are offered at the graduate level. Areas of study include Art History, Romance Languages, Literature, World Religions, and more.

The program has a rolling admissions process and applications may be submitted throughout the year. New students may join the program in September (for fall semester) and in January (for spring semester.)
